Subscription gaming service Apple Arcade has picked up Sanrio’s Hello Kitty Island Adventure to add 40 to 50 hours of branded gameplay to its offering on July 28.
The title sees Hello Kitty’s cute cast of characters renovating an abandoned island into a tropical paradise, and uncovering its hidden mystery. Boulder, Colorado’s Sunblink Entertainment (HEROish) is developing the multiplayer game, which has been in the works for more than two years, according to CEO Julian Farrior in a LinkedIn post.
Apple Arcade launched in 2019 and currently has a portfolio of more than 200 games that are playable on all Apple devices, including mobile phones/tablets, computers and Apple TVs, for US$5.99 a month. As of May, 7% of all gamers in the US were subscribed to the service, according to Statista. And among its most popular kids titles are My Little Pony: Mane Merge, Angry Birds Reloaded, LEGO Star Wars: Castaways and Nickelodeon Extreme Tennis.
Sanrio has been on a roll with Hello Kitty business lately, naming Jazwares as the brand’s new master toy partner in North and South America last month, and selling CG-animated series Hello Kitty: Super Style to Viaplay, Super RTL, Canal+ and CBC Kids in January.
