French broadcaster Canal+ has partnered with Paris-based Dandelooo to develop an animated series about regulating emotions.
Gaston Gets It! is a 52 x 11-minute comedy for kids ages four to seven about a young unicorn whose mane changes color based on the emotions he’s feeling. The 2D-animated series is based on a book series called Gaston’s Emotions that has sold more than 1.3 million copies in France. Dandelooo picked up the rights to adapt it for TV back in 2021.
Director of documentary, youth and animated programming & channels Christine Cauquelin says Canal+ came on board early because it sees value in kids being in touch with their emotions, and Gaston shows them by example how to process their feelings in a positive way.
Dandelooo is gearing up to present the series at Cartoon Forum in September, and will handle worldwide distribution.
