Irish animation studio Kavaleer Productions has hired two experienced producers to develop and produce a slate of new properties.

Geraldine Weber (pictured left) joined in March as a producer, followed two months later by development producer Alan Keane (pictured right). Both will work to expand Kavaleer’s content expertise beyond kids toons by exploring new live-action and adult-targeted animation concepts. 

Keane has worked for more than 15 years as a writer, story editor and producer. Prior to joining Kavaleer, he wrote scripts for Cartoon Network’s sitcom The Amazing World of Gumball. He also produces and develops content as CEO of Dublin-based Hot Drop Films, through which he has written episodes of animated series for Disney (Space Chickens) and One Animation (Oddbods). Keane will remain CEO at Hot Drop Films while working at Kavaleer.

Weber, meanwhile, has more than 25 years of experience in the industry. She started out working in live action, visual effects and short-form animation, and then moved into long-form series when she joined Brown Bag Films, where she produced animated series such as Vampirina for Disney Junior and Eva The Owlet for Apple TV. Among Weber’s many other credits are Stinky & Dirty (Amazon TV) and Chico Bon Bon: Monkey with a Toolbelt (Netflix).

Last year, Kavaleer received funding from Screen Ireland to hire more staff and explore new content genres and technology, according to a release.
