Apple TV+ has ordered another round of Peanuts content for its kids and family library, greenlighting a new series and a special from WildBrain for 2024.
Charlie Brown and his friends go to summer camp in Camp Snoopy, while Snoopy earns badges with his fellow “Beagle Scouts” to keep his troop from disbanding.
Apple TV+ has also ordered a new special called Snoopy Presents: Welcome Home, Franklin (pictured), which centers around a lesser-known character from the Peanuts canon as he struggles to make friends. Franklin teams up with Charlie Brown to compete in a soap box derby race, and ends up learning that winning isn’t everything.
A third season of WildBrain’s The Snoopy Show is about to launch on the streamer next month, followed by the special Snoopy Presents: One-of-a-Kind Marcie in August. This one-off stars the gang’s resident introvert, who is happy to stay in the background and help her friends solve their problems. But when Marcie is elected class president and all eyes are on her, she has to learn how to buck expectations and do things her own way.
Apple TV+ made a major commitment to Peanuts in 2020 when it acquired all of the brand’s holiday content and signed a deal with WildBrain for new shows and specials. In other recent programming news, the streamer greenlit DreamWorks Animation’s BE@RBRICK last month, based on a popular collectible toy line from Japan. And in 2022, it ordered Slumberkins (The Jim Henson Company), Circuit Breakers (Cottonwood Media and Aircraft Pictures) and Interrupting Chicken (Mercury Filmworks).
