It’s a “natural” fit: Nonprofit org Fred Rogers Productions (FRP) and 9 Story Brands has partnered with Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania’s carter joey to launch outdoor products based on Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood.
Carter joey’s range of backpacks and licensed patches that kids can attach to their bags are due to roll out at retail later this year in the US and Canada. This is the startup company’s first licensing deal, and its first product—a backpack for kids (pictured)—only launched in 2020. It has since been joined by animal print patches and mittens that are currently available in select US specialty stores and through its DTC website.
Moving the IP into outdoor toys makes sense with the show’s ongoing narrative about playing outside and having everyday adventures in nature, said VP of business and legal affairs Matt Shiels in a release. The new product line joins Daniel Tiger’s extensive consumer product program, which already includes apparel, crafts and games.
