It looks like KidsCave is ready for the limelight. The London-based animation house has appointed high-profile industry exec Julian Scott as its new COO and MD.
Scott is a BAFTA-nominated exec producer with a resumé that includes a stint as director of international production at Walt Disney International Television, as well as VP roles in creative development and European operations at Sesame Workshop. He’s currently consulting for TV Film London on animation and kids, a gig he will continue to manage in addition to his new remit.
Scott started at KidsCave this month and will oversee the prodco’s corporate development and day-to-day operations, reporting to CEO Ed Bignell. In a release, he said his goal is to drive growth with business and content development strategies, as well as diversifying the company’s production capabilities to include live action and “other intriguing possibilities.”
“[Julian] has a fantastic track record of spotting strong, creatively unique and commercially viable IPs, and ensuring they are delivered on time and on budget,” said Bignell in the release.
Scott’s hiring comes a month in advance of KidsCave’s latest original concept, Kitti Katz, premiering on Netflix. The CG-animated series (10 x 22 minutes) follows the adventures of three 14-year-old girls as they try to save the world from an evil Egyptian goddess with their power to transform into super-cats. Netflix acquired KidsCave’s first original series, Robozuna, in late 2018.
