Germany’s Studio 100 Media has appointed former WildBrain exec Richard Rowe (pictured left) and WDR commissioning editor Manuela Lumb (pictured right) as executive producers, with a remit to develop and discover new European projects for kids and family viewers, as well as co-development and co-production partners in the region.
Lumb will focus on German-speaking territories, with Rowe tackling the English-speaking ones. They’ll both be creating and hunting for content that explores new genres and target demos than Studio 100 has traditionally served.
Rowe has more than 20 years of experience creating animated and live-action content. He worked for six-plus years at WildBrain as director of international co-productions and acquisitions, and counts Inspector Gadget, Dorg Van Dango and The Zoo among his credits for the company. Rowe spent the first 12 years of his career at Turner Broadcasting overseeing acquisitions and original series for kids channels in EMEA. In 2017, he set up his own company, Rowe Media, to provide consulting services to the kids TV industry at large.
Lumb has been working as a freelance producer and consultant for the past four years. But before that, she was head of the children’s department at German prodco Studio TV.Film from 2008 to 2016, and then spent two years heading up content development at Motionworks (The Adventures of Young Marco Polo). Earlier in her career, Lumb served as a commissioning editor at German public broadcasters SWR and WDR, where she developed series such as Show with the Mouse.
