BBC Kids & Family has greenlit Banijay’s new 2D-animated series Super Happy Magic Forest.
Patricia Hidalgo, director of children’s and education at the UK public broadcaster, unveiled the show for the first time at Kidscreen Summit today during her closing keynote.
Tiger Aspect Kids & Family in the UK and Italy’s Movimenti (both owned by Banijay Kids & Family) are co-producing the 52 x 11-minute series, which is a collaboration with the BBC and RAI. They just inked a pre-sale with Canal+.
Targeting kids ages seven and up, Super Happy Magic Forest centers around a group of heroes (including a faun, fairy and unicorn) who are on a quest to find mystical crystals that will protect their home from evil creatures. Tom Beattie (Mr. Bean: The Animated Series) and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh (Phineas and Ferb) are executive producers on the series.
Super Happy Magic Forest is an adaptation of Matty Long’s same-name six-book series, which Oxford University Press started publishing in 2015.
