Having spent the past several years expanding into games and audio, educational content studio FableVision is now making a concerted push in the TV and film space with a new recruit and a rebranded division.

The Boston-based company has hired Rachel Marcus (pictured) as VP of development, and she’ll help run its TV and film business out of the newly rebranded Moonladder division. Marcus will focus on business development, financing and distribution, working alongside VP of creative Tone Thyne and reporting to FableVision president and co-founder Gary Goldberger.

Marcus announced last week that she was leaving her previous position as VP of creative development at Toronto’s Guru Studio. She had been with the company for nearly eight years.

Thyne says Fablevision is interested in producing aspirational content with learning goals involving diversity, mindfulness, gratitude and community-building, and would like to reach a wide range of demographics. He says the addition of Marcus to the team builds out Moonladder’s capabilities in development, financing models and global distribution.

Fablevision has recently been focused on the audio entertainment and gaming markets. Last year, it set up a new division called audiyo-yo to service podcast development, and its FableVision Games division develops and publishes games and resources for curriculum-based classroom learning. According to the company, “Moonladder is a way to silo the original properties related specifically to film and TV under the FableVision umbrella.”
