New year, new business strategy. Australia’s Moose Toys is kicking off 2023 by launching a mergers & acquisitions team.
Global head of business development Giles Musker is heading up the new division and will focus on expanding the company’s portfolio of assets across toys, games and collectibles.
“We are actively seeking acquisitions and investment and strategic partnership opportunities that will enhance our strength in existing categories, and offer the ability to enter and disrupt new categories,” said Musker in a release.
Another thing that Moose’s M&A team is exploring is offering equity investments to emerging companies in the market and helping them scale by using the toyco’s brand-building experience and global distribution strategies.
Original Moose Toys IPs include electronic plush line Magic Mixies (pictured), battling action figures Akedo Warriors and Treasure X surprise eggs. It’s also the master toy partner on 2D-animated preschool series Bluey.
The last company Moose acquired was UK-based Worlds Apart in 2018, best known for its plush brand Scruff-a-Luvs. The Australian toyco rebranded the asset as Moose Toys UK the following year, and used it to expand internationally into Europe.
