Magic Frame Animation and Creation Entertainment Media are targeting co-viewing audiences with film adaptations of a series of Christmas- and mystery-themed books.
The two UK-based studios are developing a set of CG-animated fantasy movies based on Georges Alexander Vagan’s ongoing Paul Martin book series.
Published independently, the books have sold more than 100,000 copies globally across readable and audio formats, according to a release. Originally written in French, they are also available in English, German, Italian and Spanish.
Five book titles have been released so far, starting with Paul Martin and the Magic Magnifying Glass in 2019. The 90-minute film adaptation of this title is now in early development, slated for release in 2025.
It centers on the titular 11-year-old boy who discovers a magical artifact stolen from Saint Nicholas. In each subsequent book, the character ages up, has new adventures and solves mysteries.
Magic Frame and Creation will present the project at Kidscreen Summit, where they’re looking to meet US streamers and producers. The companies are also co-producing BuddyBots (26 x 11 minutes), an upcoming CG-animated series for kids ages five to eight.
