Blue Origin, the aerospace manufacturer owned by Jeff Bezos, is moving into animation with the development of a new space-themed adventure series for kids and families. The company has partnered with LA-based prodcos SMAC Productions and Genius Brands International to get the project off the ground and into orbit.

Blue Origin Space Rangers will star a team of junior astronauts exploring the depths of space to discover new worlds, meet new species and conduct experiments. Bezos will make appearances in episodes, along with former NFL defensive end and SMAC Productions co-founder Michael Strahan (who journeyed into space in December 2021 on Blue Origin’s NS-19 sub-orbital spaceflight mission).

GBI-owned Mainframe Studios is handling the animation on Blue Origin Space Rangers, which will be executive produced by SMAC Productions co-founder Constance Schwartz-Morini and GBI CEO Andy Heyward. The series is currently in development, and the producers are looking for broadcast and streaming partners.

In the meantime, GBI’s consumer products division is already planning a wide licensing program for the IP.
