French animation studio Blue Spirit Productions is bolstering its production team with two new hires and a promotion following the departure of co-director Armelle Glorennec (Alice & Lewis).
Succeeding Glorennec is Sylvie Mahé, who joined the company in September as a producer and deputy managing director. Her duties will now include overseeing the production teams and managing development for series and feature films. Mahé is coming off a four-year stint as GM and director of development at Mondo TV France.
Blue Spirit has also hired Jacques Romeau (pictured left) as a producer. He has more than 20 years of experience in the animation industry, and will focus on developing and producing projects including the second season of CG-animated fantasy series Alice & Lewis (52 x 11 minutes) and a new CG-animated adaptation of Mary Norton’s children’s novel The Borrowers (26 x 23 minutes), both of which are in production.
On the film side of its business, Blue Spirit has promoted producer Justine Francke (pictured right) to head up feature film production. She will work alongside artistic producer Sara Wikler, taking on responsibility for the development of several upcoming films, including a pair of 2D-animated comic book adaptations—Cut & Run (70 minutes) and The Ballad of Yaya (75 minutes).
