Future Today has partnered with Moonbug Entertainment to exclusively premiere 20 new episodes of the popular Blippi series on its flagship AVOD HappyKids.
Targeting kids ages two to six, the live-action series follows a host who explores different destinations and teaches kids new words and facts. The content began rolling out last week on HappyKids and is now fully available.
The AVOD is intensifying its focus on originals and partnerships for exclusive content as a strategy to stand out in the crowded streaming landscape, says co-founder Vikrant Mathur.
HappyKids, which primarily picks up existing content, has been expanding its kids and family portfolio over the past few months. In August, the AVOD picked up 750 episodes from Hasbro-owned Entertainment One, completing 1,000 episodes of eOne’s catalogue, including the popular Power Rangers and GI Joe series.
The in-demand Blippi is a coup for HappyKids to add to its catalogue. The series originally launched in 2014 on YouTube, and Moonbug acquired the IP in 2020. Today, the content is available in more than 20 languages and is distributed by more than 30 streamers and broadcasting companies including Netflix, Warner Bros. Discovery and the BBC. Blippi’s YouTube channel has more than nine million subscribers and more than a billion monthly views, according to Moonbug.
