Since it launched in 2014, Jetpack Distribution has built its business around selling kids shows around the world. Now the UK company is expanding its repetoire with the launch of a new L&M service designed to help clients build out their IPs more strategically.
“When I mention licensing to producers, they tell me they don’t have the time to think about it; they’re too busy making and financing the shows,” says Jetpack CEO Dominic Gardiner. “That’s where I saw an opportunity for the company to offer earlier insight and creative development in order to give our clients a realistic idea of what they can achieve.”
Jetpack has hired former Hasbro and ITV Studios exec Stephen Toye Green to head up its new service. He started working with the company in September as an advisor.
Green will work with IP owners to develop a growth plan for their series to maximize licensing and publishing success. Jetpack’s roster of producers includes Cyprus-based Outfit7 (Talking Tom and Friends) and India’s Green Gold Animations (Mighty Little Bheem, pictured).
“We’re really looking at the [producers] that don’t have any experience,” says Gardiner. “We want to help guide them through the journey and avoid pitfalls so they can develop a [licensing program] right the first time.”
