Nick Jr. Israel commissions a new bridge series

Co-producers Cottonwood Media and Ananey Studios are looking to shore up more broadcasters for Fairy Express in Cannes next week.

Nick Jr. Israel has ordered a brand-new CG-animated series for four- to six-year-olds about a team of fairies who use an app to grant wishes to kids in need.

Fairy Express is a 52 x 11-minute co-production from French studio Cottonwood Media (Theodosia) and ViacomCBS-owned Israeli prodco Ananey Studios. It’s based on an original idea from Ananey’s head of animation Gili Dolev (Zack and Quack), and was co-created by the company’s head of kids and family, Shirley Oran (Craft Party).

Dolev and Oran are executive producers on the project, with Cottonwood’s David Michel, Cécile Lauritano and Zoé Carrera Allaix producing. According to Michel, Cottonwood and Ananey are looking for one additional partner before they start production. Cottonwood parentco Federation Kids & Family is handling global distribution outside of Israel.

Ananey is best-known for its live-action work for tweens and teens, including Greenhouse Academy for Netflix, Rising, The Hood and new series Sky. The company recently moved into kids animation when it teamed up with Israel’s Pil Animation Studio and Sweetshop & Green in Australia on Living With Landlubbers. And it has also partnered with CyberSplash Entertainment (a production company formed from the merger of Cyber Group Studios and Splash Entertainment) on a new preschool project called Family Rocks.
