Raise the anchor and hoist the sails—Irish prodco Distillery Films’ new educational preschool series is about to embark on a voyage around the world. French distributor Superights has acquired the distribution rights to Sullivan Sails and will represent the show globally, excluding Ireland and Italy.

The 2D-animated series (26 x seven minutes) is a co-production between Distillery and UK-based ALT Animation that’s slated for delivery in 2023. Linear channels RTEJr (Ireland) and KidsMe (Italy) commissioned Sullivan Sails in 2020, with funding from Screen Ireland and distributor Northern Ireland Screen.

The show features aspiring cartographer Sullivan, who uses his atlas and imagination to create worlds he can explore. Accompanied by an imaginary talking fox and a Navy admiral named Benji, the crew casts off on quests to help solve problems affecting the many animals and people they encounter.

Targeted at kids ages three to five, Sullivan Sails teaches them facts about the natural world, including wildlife, habitats and climate change.

French prodco Superprod launched its international distribution arm in 2013. Since then, Superights has inked deals for several kids entertainment properties, including 2D-animated preschool series Momulu and Friends (Ferly, Yellow Animation); Tencent Video’s CG-animated comedy series The Adventures of Little Penguin; and Vtech/Kuku Studio CG-animated co-pro Go! Go! Cory Carson.
