French animation studio Le Chouette Compagnie has appointed former Gaumont and HARI Group exec Adeline Tormo as its new head of sales.
In the role, Tormo will oversee financing and sales for the studio’s content. She’s also working to strengthen La Chouette’s global reach via new TV channels and digital platforms, and will develop relationships with international co-production partners.
Tormo has more than 15 years of international distribution and financing experience in the children’s animation industry. She began her career in 2008 working for French prodco Gaumont Animation as an intern, and then rose through the ranks to end up serving as VP of international sales in 2014.
Paris-based prodco HARI hired Tormo in 2016 to helm its newly launched distribution subsidiary, HARI International, as head of sales. Steering the division for six years, she oversaw global sales and marketing strategies for the company’s portfolio of CG-animated series, including Grizzly and the Lemmings and The Owl.
At MIPCOM next month, Tormo will be pitching everything in La Chouette’s development pipeline, including 2D-animated preschool show Taki Tanuki (52 x seven minutes) and slice-of-life series Theo les bons tuyaux (52 x five minutes).
Since launching in 2015, La Chouette has produced and distributed animated series such as 2D-animated adventure series Droners, which has a second season airing on French linear network TF1; and fantasy sports series Dragon Striker (22 x 22 minutes) for Disney+ in 2023. Both shows stem from a co-production partnership between La Chouette and fellow French prodco Cyber Group Studios.
