Spain’s Zinkia Entertainment (Pocoyo) is gearing up to bring its first original project in 15 years to TV screens, tackling the evergreen kid-favorite subject of dinosaurs.

The prodco’s new series Yanco, Dina and the Dinosaurs has been ordered by Spanish pubcaster RTVE and will be broadcast on its kids channel Clan. Details of the premiere date and format have not been revealed yet.

Aimed at kids ages six to eight, the action-comedy is led by a quirky and unlikely duo—Yanco, a yeti who loves omelets and stand-up comedy; and Dina, a young girl who may be keeping a big secret. Facing off against an evil dino-obsessed millionaire, the two heroes travel the world to find dinosaur eggs and store them in a safe place before they hatch.

Over the past 15 years, Zinkia has focused on producing its popular preschool series Pocoyo. Last year, the company acquired Canary Islands-based studio KOYI Talent.

Yanco, Dina and the Dinosaurs will make its international market debut at Kidscreen Summit, taking place next week in Miami.
