This just in! Kids down under can now catch up on current affairs in a localized version of kid-first news show Nick News.
Nickelodeon Australia and New Zealand has launched the format, featuring a kid-friendly overview of global news stories including updates on sports, celebrities, TikTok trends and toys.
Segments will be broadcast at regular intervals throughout the week on Nick feeds in both regions, as well as on Aussie channel 10 Shake. Digital content will also be available to view on the Nickelodeon Australia Instagram account.
This iteration of Nick News is hosted by actors and content creators Nakita Clarke, Leyla-Princess Guldur and Silia Kapsis. They all hail from Australia’s Village Nation Performing Arts school and previously worked together on a 2021 vlog series called Welcome to Our Lockdown.
Nick News originally aired in the US from 1992 to 2015, and then was revived and revamped in 2020 as an hour-long special facilitating conversations about race and the experiences of Black children.
Nickelodeon also released an installment of Nick News earlier this year featuring coverage of young humanitarians in Ukraine.
