Canadian animation studio Yeti Farm Creative has restructured its management team and expanded its operations facility.
Partner Jay Surridge (pictured right), who first joined the company in 2016 as director and executive in charge of development, is now chief content officer with oversight of all production and development activity. Meanwhile, Stephanie Marcott (pictured left) has been hired as an international recruiter to manage talent acquisition. She previously worked at Method Studios, Framestore and DNEG.
Based in Kelowna, British Columbia, where it recently moved into an expanded studio space, Yeti is gearing up for more production. It recently signed two development deals for CG-animated projects with executive producer Irene Weibel—best known for her work on Hotel Transylvania, Moon and Me and Bravest Warriors. One will be from illustrator Michael Bruza (Outlandish, SciGirls) and the other with California-based prodco The Mother Company (Ruby’s Studio).
Meanwhile, Yeti is currently in production on Summer Memories, a 2D-animated comedy about an 11-year-old’s epic summer adventure. It’s produced by Weibel, Canadian prodco Aircraft Pictures (The Breadwinner, Holly Hobbie) and A&N Productions, which was founded by animator and producer Adam Yaniv (Alvinnn!!! And The Chipmunks, Night at the Museum). The 20 x 30-minute series was developed by Yeti Farm Creative, commissioned by WildBrain Television’s Family Channel and will be distributed internationally by WildBrain.
Also in production is Alpha Betas, about four elite virtual gamers. Produced by 3BLACKDOT, the series is a collaboration between YouTube creators Evan Fong, Marcel Cunningham, Tyler Wine and Brian Hanby and was created by showrunners Chris Bruno and David Howard Lee. Yeti animated the series pilot, which premiered on YouTube in 2021.
