Hulu, ZDF and France Télévisions have signed on to co-produce Cottonwood Media’s new series Spellbound. The 26 x half-hour live-action series follows a 15-year-old who relocates from a small town in the US to Paris to study ballet—but her dancing dream takes a supernatural turn when she discovers a book of family spells and accidentally unleashes magical mysteries into her life. Filming will start this summer in Paris.

Jill Girling and Lori Mather, the executive producers of Cottonwood’s Find Me in Paris (which also blends fantasy and ballet), created this new tween-skewing series. And studio execs Zoé Carrera Allaix, Cécile Lauritano and David Michel are lined up as producers. Federation Kids & Family and ZDF Studios will handle worldwide sales.

Find Me in Paris (78 x 26 minutes) premiered in 2018 on Hulu in the US. Disney+ picked up all three seasons earlier this year, and the show previously sold to Nickelodeon UK, France Télévisions, Disney Channel France, ABC Australia and VRT (Belgium). It was originally commissioned by Hulu and ZDF.
