Nelvana & Cloudco orchestrate Care Bears retail promotions

The partners will bring the iconic sharing and caring bears to life for Canadian audiences this summer with new licensed apparel, themed food and experiential events tied into the brand's 40th anniversary.

Nelvana and Cloudco Entertainment are working with retailers across Canada to launch unique Care Bear-themed products and experiences this summer to celebrate the brand’s 40th anniversary.

Food retail partners include: iHalo Krunch, which will offer limited-edition Care Bears milkshakes and twists at all of its Ontario locations; and Toronto-based vegan bakery Bunners Bakeshop, which is developing a full range of cookies, doughnuts and frosting kits.

Meanwhile, Peace Collective and Retrokid are planning limited-edition Care Bears apparel collections; Peace Collective’s range will be available soon online and in stores, and the Retrokid line is already available online.

For each item sold, Peace Collective will make a contribution to a Canadian food bank, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health Foundation or the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

Starting on June 25 in Toronto’s Distillery District, fans will get an opportunity to meet and take photos with the iconic  bears in the first Peace Collective x Care Bears event, which will celebrate the apparel collection’s launch. A second event will be held on June 26 at Church Street Junior Public School during Pride Toronto, and more will be announced at a later date.

Similar promotions are rolling out with international retail partners as well—for example, China’s SHEIN launched a Shine You Kind line of apparel and accessories based on the Care Bears IP on May 16.
