Three new series for children have been greenlit by Australia’s public broadcaster as part of its just-announced lineup for 2022/2023.

Educational series Reef School (20 x 11 minutes) will air on preschool-skewing channel ABC Kids, with narration from Emma Watkins (pictured), a former member of superstar kids music group The Wiggles. The show dives underwater to explore an imaginary Australian coral reef through the lens of the little Reefies and their teacher Mr. Flip.

Also bound for ABC Kids is  a semi-scripted docu-series called It’s a Jungle Out Here. Centering on 14-year-olds Su and Pharrell, this live-actioner goes behind the scenes of their fictional documentary Australian Wild to seek out the best wildlife down under.

And finally, a second live-action series for six to 12s, Soundtrack To Our Teenage Zombie Apocalypse, will launch on ABC ME. The 10 × 30-minuter stars a group of four music-obsessed teens who end up trapped in the ABC building during a zombie apocalypse.

All three projects were announced ahead of the ABC’s 90th anniversary in July.
