Disney+ is finishing up a big reboot project, but it’s not a typical case of refreshing a movie franchise or a TV series.
Launching on the streamer on June 15, Family Reboot is a new six-part live-action series from New York-based prodcos Milojo Productions and Talos Films that focuses on real-life families that have been too busy to spend time together. Through games, challenges and uninterrupted time for heartfelt conversations, they will work to rebuild their strong bonds, with a different family featured in each episode. And audiences will be encouraged to implement ideas and strategies for reconnecting from the show in their own lives as well.
The series is inspired by personal experience, the producers noted in a statement. “We all know people whose families have got so caught up in their own individual lives and schedules that they’ve grown apart and are missing the love, friendship, fun and support that family members can provide to each other,” said Talos Films’ Julian Hobbs and Elli Hakami in a press release.
Hobbs and Hakami are EPs on the project, along with Milojo’s Kelly Ripa, Mark Conseulos and Albert Bianchini. Showrunner Catherine Pappas is also an EP, and Michael Halpern is on board as director of development.
