Tinkercast is continuing to execute a 360-degree expansion plan for its successful Wow in the World science and tech podcast with the May 21 launch of a traveling US road show called WOW on Wheels.
Designed for kids ages six to 11 and their parents, the experiential mobile tour will operate out of co-host Mindy Thomas’s renovated ice cream truck, which serves as a mini-museum of science and exploration. Each stop on the seven-city swing will give kids and parents an opportunity to participate in community art projects, scavenger hunts and other fun scientific and creative activities.
WOW on Wheels is totally free (thanks to a sponsorship from snack maker CLIF Kid) and kicks off in Denver, Colorado, with additional stops planned in Texas, Georgia, Indianapolis, Michigan, Illinois and Minnesota.
This isn’t the first time Tinkercast has taken its flagship podcast brand into the experiential market. A monthly Wow in the World live theater show launched pre-pandemic and then restarted in March 2022 after a string of COVID postponements, according to company co-founder Meredith Halpern-Ranzer.
Since launching in 2017, the Wow in the World podcast has generated more than 150 million downloads, as well as a bestselling book range and consumer products program.
To bolster even more growth, Tinkercast launched a new division called Tinkercast Lab in January to explore strategies for moving its content into video form for the first time, along with several unique merchandising opportunities. It also expanded its leadership team, bringing in Sesame Workshop alum Jodi Nussbaum as COO and Ali Paksima as CFO.
