Two new deals have just been inked that will expand the international reach of 2D-animated series Kung Fu Wa! from Tencent Video and UYoung Media.
UYoung has sold the show to Discovery Kids Latin America, while Narrative Entertainment’s free-t0-air children’s channel Pop TV has acquired rights in the UK from Federation Kids & Family (which handles distribution outside of China and LatAm).
The 52 x 11-minute action-comedy series is co-produced by UYoung and Tencent, and it premiered on the Chinese streamer last year. Kung Fu Wa! targets kids ages six to nine with adventure-driven stories starring an eight-year-old girl who finds an odd-looking sock that is actually a Kung-Fu master from another world. When she puts the sock on, Tee Zee is transformed into a superhero.
Tiny POP, also owned by Narrative, recently picked up exclusive free-to-air rights to animated preschool series Mush-Mush & the Mushables from distributor CAKE, which co-produces the show with La Cabane Productions (France) and Thuristar (Belgium).
