Cartoonito picks up CoComelon for EMEA

More than 150 episodes will launch on WarnerMedia’s preschool block in languages such as French, German and Italian this year.
March 17, 2022

Moonbug Entertainment has inked its first multi-territory linear deal, partnering with WarnerMedia to air preschool series CoComelon across EMEA.

Under the deal, WarnerMedia has picked up 170 episodes of the popular series to air on the conglom’s fledgling preschool block Cartoonito across more than 115 countries in the area this year. The brand’s 3D-animated musical episodes, which cover educational topics and nursery rhymes, will roll out in multiple languages, including German, French and Italian.

This partnership expands on Moonbug and WarnerMedia’s previous deal to air CoComelon on Cartoonito in the UK, where it rolled out in April 2021. That was the brand’s first move onto linear TV.

Moonbug has taken the CoComelon brand far beyond its YouTube roots (where it has 131 million subscribers on its channel) since acquiring the brand in 2020. It previously partnered with pay-TV operator Orbit Showtime Network to launch a linear channel and streaming hub of its kids titles, including CoComelon in the MENA region. Earlier this year, the kidco signed a multi-year content deal with Spotify for a slate of original podcasts and audio content, starting with CoComelon.

CoComelon strengthens Cartoonito’s preschool block, which launched last year. WarnerMedia has stocked it with some big name brands to draw eyeballs, including Sesame Street: The Nutcracker and a new Charlotte’s Web miniseries, which were unveiled earlier this month.
