Simon Philips, former president of Marvel Entertainment International, is setting his sights on a new universe to conquer.
Philips has joined the board of Falcon’s Beyond Global, a Florida-based experiential entertainment company that brings IPs to global markets through theme parks, resorts, attractions and patented technologies.
Philips arrives at Falcon’s Beyond with a resumé that includes generating more than US$16 billion in annual sales for brands owned by the likes of Disney, Pixar and Marvel, and helping to steer Marvel through its sale to Disney in 2009. In addition, he has significantly contributed to building iconic kid franchises such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Pokémon and CoComelon.
Falcon’s Beyond will provide plenty of space for Philips to apply that expertise, with its patented approach to integrating brands across a broad spectrum of brand platforms and transmedia. His appointment comes on the heels of the company making some major announcements last year, including a partnership with edutainment venue Curiosity Playground to feature PBS KIDS properties such as Dinosaur Train, SuperWHY!, Odd Squad and Wild Kratts.
The live entertainment scene is really revving up globally as pandemic restrictions ease, with both theme park and live shows readying for healthier summer seasons.
