Cartoon Network is giving kids a new resource for coping with bullying in a new campaign featuring five popular TikTok creators.
Created in partnership with US-based NGO Anti-Defamation League, the We Speak Up initiative features Nick Cho (three million followers on TikTok, pictured left), Charlie Curtis Beard (1.4 million followers), Justyn Gee (2.9 million followers), Johnny Ringer (954,000 followers, pictured right) and Davante Wilson (6.9 million followers). Each creator shares personal experiences they’ve had with bullying and discusses tactics for how to stand up to bullies and also how to be more kind. This marks the first time Cartoon Network has teamed up with TikTok creators for a campaign.
We Speak Up launched this week and is part of Cartoon Network’s ongoing Stop Bullying: We Speak Up campaign that rolled out in 2010. Recent efforts include teaming up with nonprofit Games for Change last year to create a new microsite with a PSA and tips for dealing with cyber-bullying.
The new videos, however, will only be available on TikTok. According to recent research from Childwise, 57% of five- to 16-year-olds in the UK use the platform overall, with 40% of them spending some time there every day.
