Disney Branded Television has promoted long-time Disney exec David Cobb to oversee original content for Disney+ and the linear channels as SVP of operations and content planning.

Cobb’s new remit includes Disney Branded Television acquisitions, partnerships and kids & family content planning in live action, animation, scripted and unscripted, as well as Disney Television Animation operations and technology.

Reporting to Disney Branded Television president Ayo Davis, his direct reports now include Scott Erickson (VP of technology at Disney Television Animation), a yet-to-be-announced VP of studio strategy and operations for Disney Television Animation, and Kelly Fountaine (manager of integrated culture at Disney Branded Television).

Cobb joined the House of Mouse in 1996 and has since held leadership positions in product development, business planning and finance. Most recently, he headed up day-to-day operations and worked to grow the global reach of the linear Disney Channels as VP of business planning strategy.

Disney Branded Television has been reconfiguring its team of late to focus on creating new content for Disney’s streaming and linear platforms. This latest promotion comes in the wake of Davis being upped to president of the content division last September, and former FOX Entertainment Charlie Andrews joined as EVP of live-action and alternative series earlier this month. The division also recently promoted Brenda Kelly-Grant to SVP of casting and talent relations for Disney+ and Disney Channels.
