US animation studio ZAG is opening a location in Buenos Aires to expand its licensing and merchandising business in Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay.
The new office will be overseen by Melisa Fuhr, who joined ZAG last year as director of licensing and retail in South America. She is now in charge of operations in Chile and Peru, reporting to Angela Cortez, VP of licensing and consumer products for Latin America.
Flagship ZAG series Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir (pictured) and Ghostforce are already available in Argentina on Netflix and Discovery Kids, respectively. In the months ahead, Fuhr will work to build connections with local retailers and create consumer products programs for both IPs in the region.
The expansion of Fuhr’s duties continues a period of growth and team-building at ZAG—the company recently hired its first consumer products VP for the Middle East and Africa to operate out of Dubai. It also recently launched an anti-piracy division and acquired a stake in French company Epopia, which specializes in creating interactive stories for kids through letter-writing.
