Nickelodeon has given the greenlight to two new animated series, Rock, Paper, Scissors and Max & the Midknights.

Rock, Paper, Scissors (20) is a 2D-animated character-driven comedy about a trio of mismatched roommates (the titular Rock, Paper and Scissors) as they get up to different hijinks in each episode.

It is the first short from Nickelodeon’s Intergalactic Shorts Program that the kidcaster has picked up for a series order. It was created by Kyle Stegina and Josh Lerhman (Robot Chicken) who are also executive producers on the show, along with Conrad Vernon (Sausage Party) and Bob Boyle (The Fairly OddParents).

Tapping into fantasy content, CG-animated Max & the Midknights (20 x 30 minutes), meanwhile, is about 10-year-old Max who pursues a dream of becoming a knight and fighting evil creatures along with her friends. Lincoln Peirce and Jane Startz are executive producing the series which is based on the children’s book series of the same name (pictured) by Peirce. This is the second project Nickelodeon has greenlit that is based off of Peirce’s work, the first being Big Nate, which debuts next year.

Nickelodeon Animation Studio will produce both series. No release date or episode length for the projects have been announced yet.
