Irish pubcaster RTÉjr is getting into the holiday spirit with 2D-animated special based on Kavaleer Productions’ new series Adam <3 Adventure.

Scheduled to premiere on Christmas Eve this year, Adam Saves Christmas is a five-minute spinoff from the Dublin-based prodco’s upcoming preschool show about an astronaut hero and his space crew who tour around the galaxy helping aliens with their everyday problems. Development on the 52 x 11-minute series began in April, after a successful pitch at Cartoon Forum last September.

The special starts with Adam’s crew heading back to Earth to celebrate the holidays. But when the Northern Lights go out unexpectedly, they end up in a race against the clock to help Santa find his lost reindeer.

Like the series, Adam Saves Christmas is inspired by Adam King, the six-year-old star of RTÉ’s The Late Late Toy Show who has brittle bone disease Osteogenesis Imperfecta and uses a wheelchair.
