Marblemedia-owned Distribution360 has picked up international distribution and format rights for three new kids shows ahead of MIPCOM next month.

The first acquisition is Halifax, Canada-based Connections Productions’ Just Like in Space (13 x 30 minutes, plus format rights). Aimed at eight to 12s, this live-action adventure series follows two vloggers who find a space agency bunker and then work to understand the universe better with help from real-life astronauts and scientists.

D360 has also picked up distribution and format rights to Quebec-based Orbite Média’s unscripted live-actioner Escape if You Can (26 x 30 minutes). It targets seven to 12s and sees teams of kids solving puzzles and challenges to try and escape different rooms.

For preschoolers, the distributor will now represent Headspinner’s Happy House of Frightenstein (pictured). This 10 x three-minute animated series revolves around a group of cute mini-monsters who play together in a giant castle. It’s a reboot of ’70s sketch comedy series The Hilarious House of Frightenstein.

D360 also added season four of marblemedia’s All-Round Champion to its catalogue. The 11 x 60-minute season sees young athletes compete in summer and winter sports with the help of pro athletes. Based on Norwegian production Best i mest, this live-action series targets kids ages seven to 15. It first aired in 2020 on Knowledge Network and TVO in Canada, and on BYUtv in the US.

The company’s focus on formats is a response to an increased demand from producers and broadcasters for exciting show concepts that can be made easily and safely as the pandemic eases, said Diane Rankin, D360’s SVP of rights and executive producer, in a release. She added that these competition formats offer producers bingeable content with built-in drama that can travel internationally.
