Deals of the Week: Jetpack, Sesame, Moonbug

Cartoon Network shows fly to Australia, The Wiggles land an OTT channel, and Tonies heads to Sesame Street.

A handful of international broadcasters have picked up shows from the London-based distributor’s catalogue.

France Télévisions has picked up the free TV and VOD rights for season two (52 x 11 minutes) of Beano Studios’ Dennis & Gnasher: Unleashed!, while Star Channel (Greece) acquired season one (52 x 11 minutes) of the animated comedy. Switzerland’s Radio Television Suisse snagged free-to-air and free VOD rights for Dennis & Gnasher: Unleashed! season two, as well as season one of BES Animation’s Kitty is Not a Cat (52 x 11 minutes). Meanwhile, Telewizja Polska (Poland) picked up the free-to-air, pay TV and VOD rights for Kitty is Not a Cat season three (26 x 11 minutes) and seasons three and four of preschool-skewing Daisy & Ollie (52 x seven minutes).

Discovery-owned linear channel Frisbee (Italy) picked up the free-to-air rights for seasons two and three of Wizart’s preschool-skewing toon Yoko (27 x 11 minutes)NBCUniversal (MENA) has acquired pay TV and SVOD rights for Samka Productions’ Our Neighbors The Marsupilamis (26 x 26 minutes). Ukraine’s Pixel TV got free-to-air rights for Clothcat’s preschool show Boj (50 x 11 minutes), and seasons one and two of Outfit7’s Talking Tom & Friends (78 x 11 minutes). Ceska Televise inked a deal to acquire free-to-air rights for JAM Media’s Becca’s Bunch (52 x 11 minutes).

International broadcaster Da Vinci Kids snagged free-to-air rights for Rumpus Media’s live action A Week to Beat the World (30 x 15 minutes) to air in US, Europe, Central Eastern Europe, South East Asia and Africa. It also picked up free TV rights to Bumpybox’s mixed-media show My Petsaurus for South Africa. And rounding out the slew of deals, Australian pubcaster ABC has picked up Vinewood Animation’s Welcome to Cardboard City (20 x five minutes).

No premiere dates for the shows has been announced yet.

Stan 

The Australian SVOD has expanded its content deal with WarnerMedia to include new kids content, including seasons one and two of Animaniacs and seasons two and three of Infinity Train, which will premiere exclusively in Australia on the streamer.

Stan also renewed its streaming rights for a number of Cartoon Network series, including Regular ShowSteven Universe, The Powerpuff Girls, Ben 10 and We Bare Bears. As part of the new deal, Stan is picking up more than 180 films from WarnerMedia, and renewing its rights to animated DC films, such as LEGO Justice League: Legion of Doom!, LEGO DC Super Hero Girls: Brain Drain and LEGO DC Super Heroes: The Flash. 

The Wiggles

OTT platform builder Loop Media has launched a channel dedicated to the Australian musical act on The Roku Channel platform. The Wiggles’ channel, which launched August 19, features The Wiggles Show (52 x 11 minutes), short-form videos, as well as specials, such as Wiggle Time!, Yummy, Yummy and Baby Antonio’s Circus.

The Wiggles channel is available for free through The Roku Channel’s kids and family section.

Moonbug Entertainment

The London-based entertainment company has tapped Universal Music Group to represent its music label. In this exclusive global deal, Universal Music will manage worldwide distribution, publishing and licensing for Moonbug’s music, which includes songs and content from CoComelon, Little Baby Bum and Blippi.

The music partnership will help Moonbug tap into kids’ and families’ growing demand for music and audio content, according to a release.

Sesame Workshop

The nonprofit behind Sesame Street has teamed up with audio entertainment company Tonies to launch new figures and content through the Toniebox smart speakers.

The companies are releasing Elmo (pictured) and Cookie Monster figures that activate music and audio content when attached to the Toniebox speaker. The Elmo figurine will unlock musical-focused content, including information about different instruments and how to use music to destress, while Cookie Monster’s figurine will share healthy food content, such as cooking tips. The new figures launch September 23 for US$14.99 each, and pre-sales are now open.

Tonies has been inking licensing deals with some of the most well-known kids brands recently, Dr. Seuss Enterprises and Disney.
