Sony Pictures Television-owned Silvergate Media has promoted Shelli Rottman to the newly created role of chief diversity officer.
As the company’s first head of diversity, Rottman will oversee Silvergate’s burgeoning diversity, equity and inclusion program, which focuses on providing work, mentorship and professional guidance opportunities to diverse storytellers, as well as creating a more inclusive company culture. Rottman’s new role is based in New York.
Rottman will also serve as EVP of business and legal affairs. She joined Silvergate in 2011 and was most recently VP of business and legal affairs for all areas of licensing, distribution, development and production. Sony Pictures Television acquired Silvergate in 2019 for US$195 million.
Silvergate recently scooped up TV rights to bilingual book series ¡Vamos! by Mexican-American author Raúl the Third (Raúl González), and is developing the IP into an animated kids series. Silvergate is now planning to develop similar projects that magnify different cultures and traditions, according to a release.
