French prodco Zephyr Animation and Canada’s Copernicus Studios have teamed up with Super RTL in Germany to co-develop a new 2D-animated series for six- to nine-year-olds.
Lana Longbeard is a fantasy-comedy that tells the story of a courageous tween who sets sail on her father’s viking ship to become a famous adventurer.
The 52 x 11-minute project was originally created by Copernicus visual development and background artist Tony Mitchell, animator Andrew Power and head of development Dylan Edwards. Zephyr chief creative officer David Sauerwein and Copernicus president Paul Rigg will serve as executive producers.
Production is set to begin later this year, with delivery planned for 2023. The studios have also not revealed details about their work split.
This greenlight follows the news earlier this month that France Télévisions has commissioned Zephyr’s stop-motion series Mogu & Perol.
