Apple TV+ will celebrate the origins of Peanuts and its creator, the late Charles Schulz (pictured), in a new documentary special called Who Are You, Charlie Brown? from Imagine Documentaries and WildBrain.

Narrated by Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o, the doc includes interviews with Schulz’s family members and friends, as well as cartoonists and celebrity fans of the comic strip including Drew Barrymore, Al Roker, Kevin Smith, Billie Jean King and Noah Schnapp. It’s set to premiere globally on June 25.

Executive produced by Imagine’s Brian Grazer and Ron Howard, Who Are You, Charlie Brown? also features a new animated story that sees Charlie Brown go on a quest to discover himself.

Imagine’s Sara Bernstein and Justin Wilkes are also executive producing, along with Josh Scherba, Anne Loi and Stephanie Betts for WildBrain, and Craig Schulz and Paige Braddock for Peanuts. Michael Bonfiglio is writing and directing.

Imagine, Apple and Peanuts worked together previously on a partially scripted “documentary” entitled Peanuts in Space: Secrets of Apollo 10. Apple also picked up all of the existing Peanuts specials and partnered with WildBrain, Peanuts Worldwide and Mendelson Film Productions to create new original series and specials based on the Peanuts world.
