Disney has promoted Peter DiCecco to serve as its first-ever EVP of music business affairs at Disney General Entertainment (DGE).
DiCecco will now head up the company’s global music business across Disney+, ABC Owned Television Stations, Disney Parks and Disney Consumer Products, as well as the legal affairs team. He will report to DGE’s EVP of strategy and business operations, Trisha Husson.
DiCecco will continue to oversee deal-making, strategy and business and legal affairs related to the production, acquisition and distribution of music for DGE’s TV brands, including Disney Branded Television, Hulu Originals, ABC Entertainment, National Geographic, ABC Signature and 20th Television. He’ll also still manage the ABC music publishing catalogue globally, and head up music business affairs for Disney television productions based in Latin America, Asia and other regions.
Prior to this promotion, DiCecco was SVP and GM of music for Walt Disney Television, where he worked on the High School Musical franchise and developed music strategies for the launches of Disney Junior and Disney+.
Soundtracks continue to be a huge growth driver for the company, especially with Disney+ rolling out globally and offering new music-based kids and family programming, including the latest season of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. According to Disney, the High School Musical soundtracks have sold more than 26 million units worldwide to date.
