California-based kids company Genius Brands has upped Jon Ollwerther to president of Kartoon Channel! effective today.
Previously general manager of the OTT platform, Ollwerther will also continue in the role of EVP of business development for Genius Brands.
Ollwerther joined Genius in January 2019, and was promoted to oversee Kartoon Channel! in fall 2020. He previously led his own media consulting company called ID Media Consulting. He was served as VP of media, arts and entertainment for Measure, a drone company.
He is the latest to join Genius Brands’ executive ranks. In April, Harold Chizick was named president of global content sales, marketing and consumer products. In 2020 Michael Jaffa was named COO for the company overseeing its business opps in production, consumer products, global distribution, legal, human resources and diversity.
Aimed at kids two to 11, Kartoon Channel! features more than 4,000 episodes of Genius Brands and third-party shows. Since its launch in June 2020, the platform has racked up millions of hits on its properties, including 21.6 million on Stan Lee’s Superhero Kindergarten. The series averages more than 3.6 million per episode, according to Genius Brands.
