Mattel is ready to pack a big punch with its newest movie project. Mattel Films has partnered with Universal Pictures and Vin Diesel’s One Race Films studio to develop a live-action feature film inspired by classic tabletop game Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots.

Diesel is set to star in the pic, which focuses on the unlikely bond a father and son form with an advanced war machine. He will also produce the project with One Race Films’ Samantha Vincent. Ryan Engle (Rampage) is writing the script, and Kevin McKeon will be the project lead for Mattel Films.

This marks the second collaboration for Mattel Films and Universal Pictures, which recently announced  plans to co-produce a movie based on the Wishbone TV series.

Mattel continues to focus on content inspired by its toys and games. The toymaker is currently working on unscripted game shows tied to its Whac-A-Mole and UNO brands, as well as a feature film inspired by View-Master.
