ABC Commercial, the commercial arm of Aussie pubcaster ABC, has picked up the distribution rights for The Rubbish World of Dave Spud in Australia and New Zealand.

Produced by London-based studio The Illuminated Film Company, the animated comedy follows a no-nonsense family who have to deal with the world suddenly changing in outlandish ways. The 78 x 11-minute series aimed at six to 11s debuted on ABC in 2019, and season two will air on the network later this year.

UK kids channel CITV greenlit the comedy in 2017, and renewed it for a second season last June. Edward Foster created and directs the show, and Munich-based Beta Film distributes it internationally.
