WarnerMedia is giving its TV animation studio in EMEA a refresh. Cartoon Network Studios Europe is rebranding to Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe, and will be co-led by Sam Register (president of Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios) and Vanessa Brookman (head of kids EMEA).
Based in London, Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe will still be part of WarnerMedia’s global kids content business, but it will also share resources with the overall studios group.
Founded in 1957 by William Hanna and Josh Barbera, Hanna-Barbera Productions created iconic animated series like Scooby-Doo, The Flintstones and The Jetsons. The rebranded studio is tasked with “embodying the spirit of its beloved library of characters” and embracing the classic look of the original Hanna-Barbera cartoons.
HBSE will continue to produce shows such as The Amazing World of Gumball (pictured), The Heroic Quest of the Valiant Prince Ivandoe and Elliot from Earth, while also exploring new production opportunities. It’s currently developing The Amazing World of Gumball Movie (working title) for TV.
