Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios have inked a joint overall deal with Pete Browngardt to create original content for both companies.
Under this exclusive multi-year partnership, the Looney Tunes Cartoons executive producer will make content for all demos, with a focus on preschool, kids and family co-viewing. Output from the collaboration will be available to WarnerMedia’s platforms, as well as third-party broadcasters and streamers.
WBA and CNS signed this deal to meet a demand for animated content, while also offering career opportunities to industry creatives, said the studios’ president Sam Register in a release. He added that Browngardt’s work on revitalizing the Looney Tunes brand convinced the studios that he was a good fit for this type of overall deal.
A two-time Emmy-nominated producer, Browngardt was the creator and executive producer of Cartoon Network Studios’ Uncle Grandpa, and he also created Secret Mountain Fort Awesome.
Register took over WBA and CNS in August. The studios still operate as separate entities, but they will collaborate by sharing information and resources under his leadership.
