Nickelodeon is quizzing kids on their knowledge of cartoons with its new trivia gameshow Tooned In. Launching February 8 and running until March 4, the live-action series pits three kids against each other as they compete to either answer questions correctly or get slimed. The winner must complete an obstacle course to take home a US$1,000 prize. Kids at home can play along through the Screens Up app and NickPlay website.
Rich Brown (Jimmy Kimmel Live!) and Michael Dugan (Trivial Takedown) are co-exec producing Tooned In, with Flavia Casas (Group Chat) as senior producer and Phil Moore (Ryan’s Mystery Playdate) as a producer. Genji Keen (The Dungeon Run) is directing, and Nick execs Ashley Kaplan (SVP of digital studios) and Luke Wahl (VP of digital studios) are overseeing production for the kidsnet.
Nick first buzzed into the trivia genre in 2019, when it revived the Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? game show. Produced by MGM Television, the reboot pits kids against adults and is geared towards a more kid-focused audience than the original series, which ran from 2007 to 2015.
