Disney+ has been capitalizing on its catalogue of well-known content since launching, but The Muppet Show hasn’t been part of the offering—until now. Disney has just announced that all five seasons of Jim Henson’s variety series will land on its SVOD on February 19.
The release will also mark the first-time debut of seasons four and five on a home entertainment platform.
The Muppet Show originally premiered in 1976, featuring Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo and more. Its variety show format includes original songs, sketch comedy and guest stars such as Elton John, Julie Andrews and Gene Kelly. The popular series ran until 1981 on CBS (US) and ITV (UK).
All five seasons will be showcased in Disney+’s The Muppets Collection, which already includes spinoffs such as Muppets Now and Muppet Treasure Island. Disney acquired the Muppets brand in 2004.
