WarnerMedia sets up its first head of kids EMEA

Vanessa Brookman will take charge of all operational, editorial and creative activity for children's content in the region.
December 11, 2020

WarnerMedia is integrating operational, editorial and creative responsibilities for all EMEA kids content and channel brands into a single remit for the first time. Vanessa Brookman was appointed as the new head of kids EMEA, and will be responsible for a portfolio that includes Cartoon Network, Boomerang, Boing and Cartoonito.

Beginning in the position immediately and based in London, Brookman will oversee associated digital properties on third-party and proprietary WarnerMedia streaming platforms. And she’ll collaborate with teams at HBO Max to build kids offerings for the streaming service when it launches in EMEA markets. Brookman will also develop and execute regional EMEA initiatives spanning content, branding, programming, marketing compliance, PR and digital.

Brookman reports directly to Priya Dogra, president of WarnerMedia EMEA and Asia (excluding China), and Tom Ascheim, president of global kids, young adults and classics. She joined WarnerMedia in 2015, and most recently served as VP of content, brands and digital for the UK and Northern Europe. Brookman previously held positions with MTV Networks and BBC Television.

This promotion comes just days after WarnerMedia appointed new execs and restructured its teams in France, Benelux, Germany, Austria and Switzerland in order to better connect its distinct divisions. And Warner Bros. recently upped Amy Friedman and Sundance Feniger as it continues to build out its kids and family business.
