London-based Moonbug Entertainment has tapped former Disney EMEA exec David Levine as its new head of studio.
Based in London and reporting to CEO René Rechtman, Levine started in his new role in November. He’s leading the studio globally, and his focus will be on driving Moonbug’s IP expansion and moving properties such as Cocomelon and Blippi into new formats, markets and platforms.
Levine was most recently VP of kids programming for Disney Channels Europe, Africa, UK and Ireland. He left Disney in June after 16 years with the company, during which he overaw the direction of original production, and developed and commissioned new shows including The Lodge, 101 Dalmatian Street and Evermoor. He also launched multiple seasons of PJ Masks and Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir, and spearheaded LGBTQ+ inclusive representation in shows like The Lodge and Best Bugs Forever.
