Netflix is working on We Lost Our Human, a new 2D-animated interactive special created by Rikke Asbjoern and Chris Garbutt (Pinky Malinky).
The one-off starts by having audiences choose to follow a self-involved cat (Pud) or a loving, hyperactive dog (Ham) when they wake up one day and find that all humans have disappeared.
Asbjoern and Garbutt are also serving as executive producers and directors on the project, and they wrote the screenplay with Laura Sreebny and Nick Arciaga. The cast is led by Ben Schwartz as Pud and Ayo Edebiri as Ham.
Netflix has been experimenting with interactive formats for kids in recent years, starting off with specials for Puss in Book and Buddy Thunderstruck and then creating interactive spinoffs for several existing shows. And its first dive into creating an original interactive IP is Battle Kitty, based on a series of Instagram posts by animator Matt Layzell.
We Lost Our Human has no official run time or release date yet.
